Senior Finance Director

General Description

The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, a 501(c)(3), is seeking a Senior Finance Director to work with the Chief Executive Officer, Finance and Administrative Director, and a team dedicated to safeguarding the future of the Blue Ridge Parkway. This person will develop and execute the financial strategy of the Foundation as programming expands and initiatives increase. Responsibilities include overseeing all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulatory requirements, and Office of Management and Budget audit requirements. This is a new position with potential for advancement. 

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with Finance and Administrative Director and the Chief Executive Officer to:

  • Ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the finance department
  • Assist in the preparation and review of budgets
  • Maintain financial records and review general ledger accounts
  • Coordinate audit activities and 990s
  • Forecast and track ROI of all programs working closely with program directors
  • Oversee all reconciliation processes
  • Monitor and oversee all investment portfolios
  • Produce and present clear and accurate reports for program managers, CEO, finance and audit committees, board of trustees, and council of advisors
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all grant spending and reporting requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 5 to 10 years of accounting and/or related experience (Minimum of BS; MBA preferred, CPA a plus)
  • Professional and proactive, with evidence of having worked as a forward-thinking and collaborative partner to the CEO of an organization with multiple divisions
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis, risk management, and forecasting methods
  • Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements in a nonprofit environment
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting including fund accounting and grant reporting
  • Enthusiasm for the mission-driven work of the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation
  • Advanced knowledge and experience using QuickBooks and Excel
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with a dedicated team
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills
  • Excellence in communicating with Foundation and National Park Service staff, public, trustees, advisors, donors, vendors, and volunteers
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments

Starting Salary: $65,000-$75,000, depending on experience
