American songster Dom Flemons will kick off the fourth annual Sounds of the Mountains concert series at 7:30 p.m., January 5, at the Willingham Theater in Yadkinville, North Carolina. Once again, the Blue Ridge Music Center and Yadkin Arts Council are partnering to present the series, which features blues, bluegrass, country, folk, and Americana artists.

Flemons cofounded the seminal and Grammy Award-winning contemporary African-American string band The Carolina Chocolate Drops, and has been integrally involved with the Music Maker Relief Foundation, an organization dedicated to preserving traditional Southern music, including the blues and string traditions of the North Carolina Piedmont. Big Ron Hunter, the world’s happiest bluesman, will open the show.

The second concert with Kelsey Waldon, January 12, will be hosted at The Ramkat, a music and performance space in downtown Winston-Salem. Two additional performances in the series with Front Country, January 19, and The Fireside Collective, January 26, will take place at The Willingham Theater.

Tickets for individual peformances are $25. A four-show pass is available for $80, and three-show pass for $65.
