Gastonia, N.C.

Vivianette Ortiz Caraballo, a proud native of Patillas, Puerto Rico, is an impassioned explorer and advocate for outdoor inclusivity. As the cofounder of Latinos Aventureros in the Carolinas, she has been instrumental in forging a path for the Latino community to connect deeply with nature.

Since establishing Latinos Aventureros two years ago, Vivianette has been pivotal in shaping the organization's vision and mission. Her dedication is evident in each community event she helps orchestrate. These gatherings are more than mere activities; they are celebrations of nature's diversity, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.

In her professional capacity at Disability Rights North Carolina (DRNC), Vivianette continues to champion inclusivity and empowerment. As a supervisory case advocate, she oversees the statewide intake process and leads a team focused on enhancing language accessibility for Spanish-speaking clients. Her role is integral in creating supportive environments where everyone's voice is heard and respected.

Her previous experiences as an interpreter for the Mecklenburg Department of Social Services and as a bilingual parent liaison at Gardner Park Elementary School have endowed her with invaluable insights into the Latinx community's unique needs, especially those of families acclimating to life in the United States.

Outside her professional endeavors, Vivianette finds joy and rejuvenation in hiking and exploring new places. Her personal love for the outdoors is a natural extension of her work, reflecting her commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement. Through her leadership and initiative, Vivianette Ortiz Caraballo isn't just uncovering the wonders of nature for herself; she's opening doors for the Latino community to join her in these enriching outdoor experiences.
