The Blue Ridge Parkway leaves each of us with special memories and a deep connection to the mountains. We invite you to share your experiences, remembrances, and the favorite places from your journeys.
Long or short, nostalgic or thrilling, we love to read your tales. With your permission we will share your story with others who love the Parkway through our e-newsletter, blog, annual report or other communications.
Here’s just one story that inspired us.
“Our family first saw the Blue Ridge Mountains in 1956, and we fell in love. My mother dearly loved the Parkway. At age 85, my dad offered her choice of a trip to Europe or the Parkway, and she chose the Parkway. She was born in Europe, and has family there, but still she chose a Parkway voyage. We traveled from Pinhook Gap to Boone in June. Their big, red LTD was the perfect car to keep at the 45 mph speed limit and enjoy the vistas and stops along the way. We spent some time at a cabin just off the Parkway. I hiked and explored while my parents relished their time together on the veranda. At the time, we did not know it would be my mother’s last trip with us. It has been fourteen years, however, I am certain she and my dad will be picnicking and plucking the wild strawberries on the Parkway this June, even if we can’t see them!” -Elisabeth St. John
