Job Summary

The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation 501(c)(3) is seeking a qualified Trails & Views Forever Program Manager to join a successful and motivated team dedicated to safeguarding the future of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The ideal candidate will have previous success in a full range of fundraising strategies and volunteer management. This is a new position and has the potential for advancement in title and salary depending on the success of the candidate. 

Key Responsibilities

In close collaboration with team leadership, this position will focus primarily on implementing organizational activities to achieve the goals of Trails & Views Forever, a multi-year effort to protect the outdoor spaces that are at the heart of the Blue Ridge Parkway experience. To accomplish these objectives, the program manager will:

  • Develop and execute a successful Trails & Views Forever volunteer, experience, and education program 
  • Work with the CEO and Project Manager to ensure project alignment and completion of Trails & Views Forever projects in partnership with National Park Service (NPS) staff and other Parkway partner groups  
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan to recruit, train, manage, and recognize volunteers and to work with Foundation and NPS staff to identify and manage volunteer projects
  • Assist in the development and execution of the annual fundraising plan for Trails & Views Forever Fund
  • Develop corporate and citizen volunteer projects and programs that align with Trails & Views Forever program goals and objectives
  • Initiate and grow long-term relationships with donors, volunteers, corporate partners, sponsors, and stakeholders by meeting face-to-face, networking, and attending community events in Virginia  
  • Work with the Development Associate to maintain a database of Trails & Views Forever donors, volunteers, prospects, and constituents
  • Work with development team to identify, write, and administer Trails & Views Forever grants
  • Identify new fundraising event opportunities in Virginia for Trails & Views Forever program
  • Work with communications staff to track, assess, and continually modify all development communication efforts regarding Trails & Views Forever based on level of success, engagement, and outcomes
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience and/or training required
  • 2- 5 years of experience in developing and managing a volunteer program
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles, best practices, and proven fundraising success
  • 2-5 years of development and fundraising experience, including donor cultivation and major gifts
  • Enthusiasm for the mission-driven work of the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation
  • Enthusiasm for the mission of the National Park Service and Blue Ridge Parkway
  • Experience with nonprofit organizations or similar work environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with a dedicated team
  • Experience in donor management software and Microsoft Office or willingness to learn
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with grant writing and management
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills
  • Event management and logistics experience

Starting Salary: Commensurate with experience, plus health insurance and 401(k) benefits
