Celebrated vocalist Jeanne Jolly will perform on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at the Willingham Theater of the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center for the final show of the Sounds of the Mountains winter concert series, a collaboration between Blue Ridge Music Center and Yadkin Arts Council. American roots group The Buck Stops Here will opens the show at 7:30 p.m.

Jeanne Jolly began her musical career as a featured vocalist for renowned jazz trumpeter Chris Botti. Since then, Jolly has worked with major symphonies and performed at marquee events, including the Monterrey Jazz Festival. Jolly’s artistry encompasses the heartfelt confessional quality of the singer-songwriter tradition, the earthiness of American roots music, a hint of jazz sophistication, and the smoldering emotionality of soul balladry. The Boston Globe calls her “one of contemporary music’s best kept secrets." And the Montana Missoulian has praised her as a vocalist who “can easily shift to the dusky lilt of Alison Krauss or the sophisticated jazz phrasing of Rickie Lee Jones.”

The Buck Stops Here’s repertoire spans American roots music, from old-time fiddle tunes with hard-driving bluegrass banjo to introspective originals with percussion and four-part harmonies. This versatile group of instrumentalists and vocalists from Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida released its self-titled debut album in 2015.

Tickets are $20, and are available online at www.yadkinarts.org or by calling (336) 679-2941. The Yadkin Cultural Arts Center is at 226 E. Main St., Yadkinville.
