Join community leaders from the 29-county Blue Ridge Parkway region for the culminating event of the Blue Ridge Rising planning effort on Dec. 5 & 6 at Meadowbrook Inn in Blowing Rock, N.C.
Blue Ridge Rising marks the first time in the Parkway’s history that all 29 Parkway counties in North Carolina and Virginia are engaging together to determine economic development strategies with wide-ranging benefits for the Parkway’s neighboring communities—with a particular emphasis on travel, tourism, and outdoor recreation, development strategies with wide-ranging benefits for the Parkway’s neighboring communities—with a particular emphasis on travel, tourism, and outdoor recreation.
Attendees will hear highlights and examples from the emerging Blue Ridge Rising Action Plan and connect with people from all across the Blue Ridge Rising corridor to foster regional unity and growth.
Summit highlights include:
- Opening dinner and keynote address by Dan Chapman, author of A Road Running Southward, Following John Muir's Journey through an Endangered Land. Chapman will highlight the challenges and possible solutions to protecting our region’s natural bounty.
- Morning keynote by Eric Eikenberg, CEO, The Everglades Foundation, who will share highlights and lessons learned from taking a regional approach to saving Florida’s Everglades.
- Blue Ridge Sampler & Social: A celebratory evening to enjoy Blue Ridge food and drink and continue to make connections and engage in conversations about the future of the region.
