2020 Holiday Gift Guide

Find great gifts that give back to the Parkway!

December 11, 2020

This holiday season, give a gift that your loved ones will treasure -- all while supporting the park you care so much about. You can also add them to your own wish list. Check out our full guide of great gifts below.

Gifts that Give Back

Fly-Fishing Guidebook

The book Fly Fishing the Blue Ridge Parkway: North Carolina Section by Sam Johnson makes a great gift for anyone looking to cast a line on the rivers and streams along the route. Johnson details where to go, the history of the waterways, and the types fish you can expect to catch. He is also generously donating 10 percent of proceeds from sales of the title to the Foundation. Visit wildbearings.com.

Blue Ridge Moments T-shirts

Our friends at Blue Ridge Moments and Nature Bound Co. have teamed up to create the Diamond Ridge Series T-shirts to benefit the Parkway.  There are two colors to choose from and a long sleeve option, too. Ten percent of the proceeds from this series will support Foundation projects and programs.

TRACK & Kip plush toys

Do you love Kids in Parks TRACK Trails? Maybe you know a young explorer who would enjoy a friendly, soft adventure buddy? The Kids in Parks program's lovable mascots Kip, the dragonfly, and TRACK, the dog, are available as plush toys. Take them along for a hike through your favorite parks! A portion of proceeds help introduce more kids to the great outdoors. Order at shop.americasnationalparks.org.

Blue Ridge Music Center Concert Series Passes

Give a loved one - or yourself - the gift of live music. Season passes for the 2021 summer concert series at the Blue Ridge Music Center can now be purchased online! The bluegrass, Americana, folk, and country performances will be hosted in the wide-open outdoor amphitheater at milepost 213 on the Parkway in Galax, Virginia. Choose between a full-season ($175), half-season ($120), or “pick 3” pass ($80). Sales support musical programming at the National Park Service facility.

Give in Honor of a Loved One

As we celebrate a season of thankfulness, why not make a gift in honor of someone you love? It’s a wonderful way to tell them you care about the national park that brings you both so much joy. Your honoree will receive a Parkway card in the mail announcing your donation. (Give by December 17 for arrival by Christmas.) You can also choose to print your own card or send an e-mail notification. Donate

Partners Who Give Back

America’s National Parks

Did you know that each time you make a purchase at a gift shop along the Parkway, you’re supporting the national park unit? All proceeds from your purchases at America’s National Parks stores contribute to education and preservation at the National Park Service sites where they operate. This holiday season, you can give a great gift, while giving back to the park you love, by visiting their online shop to purchase Blue Ridge Parkway merchandise.

Mast General Store

Shopping local at Mast General Store is a great way to give back to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Each year, Mast General donates thousands of dollars to the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation to support projects within the park. Visit them online at mastgeneralstore.com or at any of their 10 locations in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.

J. Scott Graham

Photographer J. Scott Graham is a long-time supporter of the Foundation who regularly donates his work for the Foundation’s outreach efforts. His calendars, puzzles, books, and canvas prints featuring gorgeous images of the Parkway make wonderful gifts, and there are plenty of stocking stuffers like magnets, pens, and keychains.

Teresa Pennington

Colored-pencil artist Teresa Pennington uses her talent to capture the beauty of our mountains and do good, too. She is a great supporter of the Trails & Views Forever program. Teresa offers a range of prints from flora and fauna to landscapes that make special gifts.

AmazonSmile

You can double your generosity while you shop for gifts this holiday season by designating a portion of proceeds from your Amazon purchases to support the Parkway. Signing up is easy. Visit smile.amazon.com and choose the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation as your nonprofit of choice.

Give a Getaway

Peaks of Otter Lodge

Give a friend or loved one a stay at this scenic lodge on Abbott Lake at the base of Sharp Top Mountain. You can feel twice as good about your gift because Peaks of Otter Lodge, which is managed by Delaware North, supports the Foundation through the Parkway Plus check-in donation program.

Chetola Resort & Spa

Your gift recipient will never forget a stay or spa treatment at beautiful Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock. The resort has been a steadfast supporter of rehabilitation efforts at nearby Moses H. Cone Memorial Park through special events, the Parkway Plus check-in donation program, and additional contributions.
For the outdoors person in your life, book one of their fly-fishing adventures!
